(This is one of my favorite poems, both for its imagery and for its comment on hubris. I think it applies exactly to George Bush's administration, especially the war in Iraq. I have included the editorial cartoon by Oliphant, which was accompanied by the poem when it was published.)
OZYMANDIAS

Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,

The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.
