"In an unexpected legislative twist, Republicans in Washington sponsored a bill to defund contractors that have defrauded the Federal government. The bill passed the House 345-75, with many Democrats joining in to vote for it. As a result, the Project on Government Oversight has been asked to examine its database of contractors to see which ones could be eliminated based on the new law. Among the companies that could be barred from doing business with the government are Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman."

For years and years, many of us have been screaming about war profiteers. From no-bid contracts, to outsourcing run amok, to shoddy work that endangers our troops, to graft so egregious it makes Boss Tweed look like a beginner -- for anyone paying attention, the overriding question has been "What does it take to get someone to go after these crooks?"

... while many soldiers say they had good access to water and even Gatorade, the 11 News Defenders discovered that others, stationed all over the country and during all phases of this desert war, say something else was often missing.

“We were rationed two bottles of water a day,” said Army Staff Sgt. Dustin Robey, referring to 1 to 1.5 liter bottles. And he said that wasn’t nearly enough.

“You’ll see guys throw up, you’ll see them pass out,” he said.
