Republican Plan Gives $31 Billion to the Rich, Adds $36 Billion to the Deficit
As reported by the Washington Post:
A Republican plan to extend tax cuts for the rich would add more than $36 billion to the federal deficit next year -- and transfer the bulk of that cash into the pockets of the nation's millionaires, according to a congressional analysis released Wednesday.
The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation states that "households earning more than $1 million a year would reap nearly $31 billion in tax breaks under the GOP plan in 2011, for an average tax cut per household of about $100,000."
Think that's bad? Check out the graphic just below the fold:
Is there anything left to be said after that? We've always known that the Republicans favor the rich and the super-rich over the rest of us (including the middle class), but could it be any more obvious? Tell me again how those poor multi-millionaires NEED another tax break.
Oh and by the way, if you want a whole story of ugly pictures to consider, jump over to this story on Daily Kos: "The Bush Tax Cuts in Pictures." Lots of great data and graphs, all making one singular point --
and an outrageous robbery of the rest of us.
