Gloom and Doom, Some Sunlight, and The "Convergence of Emergencies" -- Three Viewpoints of Where We Are Going

Sorry for the long title, but I didn't know a shorter way to get your attention. :-)

Here are three diaries from DailyKos that present very contrasting views on where the economy, our nation, and the even the world are headed. Take your time and read all three; each is excellent and well-resourced, but with completely different conclusions.

First, bobswern (of GS-bashing fame) has a downer of a diary based on an article by Rosenberg that is basically "things are going to get worse for a long time."

Then, bonddad (who predicted the recession long before it came, and for the right reasons, so has some cred) answers the first by pointing out some flaws in the analysis.

Finally, tonight, someone named "mwmwm" posts an answer to both that basically says we are at a "convergence of emergencies" and that nothing from the past can prepare us for the next 5-10 years. And we're not talking just economic -- a collection of crises, all happening at the same time.

Each writer does a solid job, and there are links to keep you reading for a few nights. So here are the links -- jump out and give them a read!
