So, How's It Feel To Be a 6%er?

According to Mayor Jer's spokesperson, the city got around to picking up 94% of the storm debris before Derby. Guess what -- my neighborhood is in the 6% that DIDN'T get picked up. We've still got piles and piles and miles and miles of debris. (Yes, I exaggerate some, but only for effect, and only when the Muse tells me to.)

Seriously -- I've seen no pickups anywhere near here. Has anyone else had their debris picked up? Or is that 94% about as accurate as the Mayor's economic forecasters? I'm wondering if it's 94% of the actual debris (did they count the sticks first?), or 94% of the streets, or of the miles of streets, or of the neighborhoods, or of the population, or ... what?

Could it be that in reality, they only have about 50% of it done, but since they know most of us won't drive around town counting debris stacks, they can say whatever they want and we won't know?

I'm betting the last of it gets picked up about the end of June. And for anyone reading this -- I'll post an entry when they pick up here. And if it's within the next week (which it should be if they are down to the last 6%), then I'll issue a Mea Culpa right here.

Hi Bruce. We were lucky enough to have our massive amount of tree debris removed. However, the rest of the people down the street were not. I bet Jerry's neighborhood is free of debris.

I found your blog through the bloggers against torture group. It's nice to know that someone else in Louisville is publishing blog posts against torture. When you get a chance I hope you will check out my blog too. Who knows maybe we can organize a protest against torture here in Louisville.

Thanks for stopping by! Our street was cleaned up on Monday after Derby. If you look at the map at Metro's web site, they were following a logical plan (reversed from the last storm pickup, by the way, in order to try to be fair), so I doubt Jerry's neighborhood was done early.
My problem was not the plan -- it was the lack of management of the plan. The plan was okay; they just didn't execute it very well. Frustrates me when government doesn't deliver on customer service.
As for stopping by your blog -- where is it? Drop me a link and I'll be sure to come by.

Bruce
